§ 171. Storage Capacity Requirements The minimum capacity of above ground ASME storage containers shall be 100 gallon tank capacity for each 100,000 BTU appliance load. Tankless water heater shall be rated at 50% of their input rating when calculating appliance load. Exception: D.O.T. Containers of 4 lbs though 100 lbs. capacity are exempt from this requirement when connected to small portable appliances or outdoor cooking appliances with input ratings of 100,000 btu/hr. or less. Other exceptions to this rule must be approved by the director.AUTHORITY NOTE: Promulgated in accordance with R.S. 40:1846.
